Do you love your job?

Do you love your job? I sure do. I love helping people find the perfect home for their family. I love helping people sell their home for the most money I can, but what I love most is making new friends through this business of real estate. The best news is that there is research that suggests loving your work can be really beneficial to your life. Here are 3 health benefits to loving your job.

  1. An article posted in Inc. Magazine described a study that concluded that loving your job would actually help you live longer. “Happy equals healthy. Loving your work–where we spend most of our waking hours–is bound to make you happier. And at least one study found that older people with positive moods were 35 percent less likely to die within the next five years, confirming what we all know deep down: The happier you are, the longer you probably will live.”
  2. Loving your job will improve your relationships at home. An article published in US News and World Report noted that, “When you feel energized by your day, that follows you home as well. In my work helping people discover careers they love, I have heard clients say repeatedly as they start to move towards something better, “My husband/wife/partner says I’m so much more enjoyable to be around now.” Enjoying your job will improve your relationship with others, especially with those you love at home.
  3. Your Mental Health Gets a Boost – Having a job we’re passionate about can actually lead to improvements in our mental health. This is particularly beneficial as we get older and become more susceptible to things like memory problems or dementia. Performing work we enjoy can prevent these hazards from striking early.

So these are just a few benefits from loving what you do. If you don’t love what you do, I would encourage you to investigate other options. Life is short and loving what you do may actually increase your life-span.
