Do you need to rent a moving truck? When moving into a new home, transporting your items from your old house to your new home can be a major factor, and hiring movers can be very expensive. So, if you are inclined to move yourself, here are a few tips that might save you some time and money.
- Decide what size truck you need–Most rental truck companies can help you determine the size truck you need based on the size of your home or the number of rooms in your home.
- Plan and compare prices–Moving truck prices fluctuate much like airline prices. They vary based on time of year and demand. Once you have chosen the target timeframe of your move, compare prices of several different companies and play around with the dates. For example, moving mid-week is often less expensive than the weekends. Remember, often hand-trucks and blankets are additional costs. Overall, price shopping is a good idea.
- Insurance requirements–Be sure and ask your auto insurance agent about your insurance coverage. Often your personal insurance will cover your use of the rental truck which could save you money. If not, it might be a good idea to buy an insurance rider from your rental company to protect your assets.
These are just a few tips to help you if you are planning to move using a rental truck. If you have any questions, please give me a call at 214-769-2947. I would love you help you sell your home or help you buy a new one!
